BILATERAL RELATIONS

Kenya–Saudi Arabia Bilateral Relations

The historic ties between the Republic of Kenya and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are rooted in centuries of maritime trade, shared values, and mutual respect. On August 25, 2024, Ambassador Aden Mohamud Mohamed presented his Letter of Commission to H.E. Mazen bin Hamad Al Hamli, Director-General of the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Makkah Region branch), formally establishing Kenya’s diplomatic presence in Jeddah. During this historic occasion, Saudi officials characterized the opening of the Consulate as long overdue, given the strategic, commercial, and cultural affinity between the two nations.

As Saudi Arabia’s primary commercial city, major deep water port, and home to Saudi Arabian Airlines, Jeddah offers a unique environment for the growth of Kenya-Saudi relations through targeted economic and cultural engagement initiatives.
